Here is the d-l on the hst... From what I have read it seems that it will be great for businesses, but families (especially the ones on fixed incomes) will end up paying more. The hst will increase the prices of some goods which did not have a pst before. Some of the affected goods are electricity, train/bus/airfare, fitness activities (even for kids), some health products like vitamins, etc.
The have an hst in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. So I guess it works if they are doing it in Ontario too.
I am anti-hst because it will tax my coffee. NO.
If you go to nationalcitizens.ca it has more about it!

Hey PJs. Another great episode.

Tyler- I think you should sing annoyingly EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. I will restate here that Tyler has an awesome singing voice, and listening to him (whether funking it out or singing "Potato's in the Paddy Wagon") is a pleasure. HUZZAH, TYLER!

I don't remember if it was with you, TW, that I was discussing Keenan Thompson. Maybe not. He is ABSOLUTELY a one-trick pony, but you're right, when they hit on the exact right piece for him, it IS funny. I watched on the weekend, and I really did laugh.

Can I send MY unwanted children to Alice via P.O Box whatevs? ...Do I have to have given birth to them or formally adopted them to send them away? Because I have several students that I would appreciate having out of my hair. If Alice wants them, she can have them. Good riddance. (Bye-Bye, mes cocos. And by that I mean half the boys in my grade 9 regular class, all of my grade 8 and 9 concentration groups...)

"Don't tell me not to live, I've simply got to!
Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter!
Don't bring around a cloud to rain on my parade!
Don't tell me not to fly, I've simply got to!
If someone takes a spill, its me and not you.
Who told you you're allowed to RAIN ON MY PARAAADDDE???"
... I mean, I KNOW that Santa Claus parades are sort of like the boxing bell beginning for the Christmas shopping season, its secular and Santa was invented by Coca-Cola, blablabla.... but the Christmas Spirit and I are like *this*.

By the way, Alice, you have introduced me to a great deal of wonderful new music and for that I am grateful. I LOVE "Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros". I also got into Those Dancing Days, Tegan and Sara and there was another thing you played a few weeks ago that I liked quite a lot but I forget what it is now.

Maher Arar.

Tonight's favorite song? Hummingbird.

Let me share this awkward moment with you:

Yesterday morning, at 9:00am, I run to the fruit and vegetable store right next door to my apartment to pick someone up for the cake I was making. Its a tiny little locally-owned grocery store. NINE A.M. I walk in and sitting right in the entryway of the store, next to the freshly-baked baguettes, is a table with some crapily-published books sitting on it and a dude with the MOST ENORMOUS HANDLEBAR MUSTACHE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. He is doing a BOOK SIGNING at the Fruit and Vegetable Market! At 9:00am on a Sunday morning. I stared at him for a moment in horror, shock and confusion, and he looked back at me. It was UNBELIEVABLY awkward. I thought you might like to see his website, which I looked up for your benefit, and especially to see how large his mustache was. Scroll down a little and there is a photo. Unbelievable.

Seriously. Please check it out and reassure me that his facial hair is, in fact, out of this world.

Oh Lord, all my little kids saw "New Moon" on the weekend, and they all loved it and said it was much better than "Twilight", but I SAW the first movie and let me tell you it was GRIM so that can't have been too difficult.

Oooh, what am I supposed to be making an example for? Songs changed by comedy...Okay, I know many of those! The Banana Boat song was the first one that came to mind.

... they aren't NOVELS. I just write as I listen. I can stop if you want, though.

Christmas episode! Christmas episode!

"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

That SNL rendition was the tops.

Who doesn't like monty python… honestly.

HST… well... the trickle down effect is the idea… give business more money so they create more jobs. We know that never works though. Just look at the list of East Coast provinces that all have a harmonized tax; their unemployment rate is worse than anybody else's in the country.

The mere fact that Twilight New Moon exists makes me sad.

Regarding the torturing and whatnot... did you notice that a couple of CIA agents were convicted of kidnapping in absentia, in Italy? Nothing will come of it though as the US will never be asked to turn them over.

James Cameron was on 60 minutes last night re: Avatar. I like him less after having seen the interview... seems to think quite highly of himself for someone that started life as a B movie director with penthouse playmates and flying Pirhanas. I'll see Avatar in IMAX though.

You should really try and fit in an Oprah Winfrey tribute in an upcoming episode... don't worry though, you have until September 2011 to fit it in.

I would pay good money at Toys R Us for the Alissa and Tyler muppets! Songs from the theme show could include Feist's 1,2,3,4, and Big Bird's ABCDEFGHIJ...

The ASR program is getting more diverse all the time - now featured singing!!! What next... interviews with mimes on air? Keep it coming. Some of us do appreciate Monty Python's Flying Circus.

I cannot think of a classic song that was ruined by a comedy, however the two guys in the car in the movie, White Chicks, attempting to sing "A Thousand Miles" did me in? I could not take the song seriously before, but now its over! Can't help but laugh.

À bientôt. (Finally discovered the accents on my MAC, Tyler!(

More on the theme of 'hits' that were crucified through comedy:

There is the famous SNL sketch with Will Farrell that covered Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper". MORE COW BELL, Tyler!!

And my personal favourite:

Eddy Murphy singing the duet with Reggie (a.k.a. Shitlocks) in the Nutty Professor. The song was "Loving you Ain't Easy". Beautiful!!

HAHAHAHA! Rob, I had never seen "White Girls", but I looked up the clip on youtube and I cannot tell a lie. It was pretty funny.
