S02 E30: Ya Dig?

Here we go, folks: the long-awaited "Hip" Episode. Not that we're all that hip, or the show is very hip. Not sure the music is, either. But we say the word "hip" a lot. That's hip, right?

Best finish ever! Where did you find that scratched record sound bite?

You played the Ella Fitzgerald tune, and she was undoubtedly a trend setter in her era. But her partner in the duet was Louis Armstrong, who was also pretty hip. Why? Hard to say... his distinctive voice, his trumpet playing, his huge, infectious smile? He had to be really hip because here is a list of his honourary pallbearers at his funeral in 1971: Governor Rockefeller, Mayor Lindsay, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Guy Lombardo, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Pearl Bailey, Count Basie, Harry James, Frank Sinatra, Ed Sullivan, Earl Wilson, Alan King, Johnny Carson, David Frost, Merv Griffin, Dick Cavett and Bobby Hackett. Impressive.

By the way, Alissa, those were brushed denim jeans, not grungy black pants I was wearing. And I am no where near 70!

The simplest answer is always the right one:
HIP = Highly Important Person!
