S02 E24: Gee Whiz

Nothing of interest happened this past week, so don't expect any serious discussion in this week's episode. Nope. Nothing at all.

'Peaceful' G20 Protest

Great show, Roz and Frazier!

Your balanced critique of the G20 event was right on the money. I am somewhat sympathetic to the police who are criticized if they allow violent acts to proliferate, yet damned if hooligans are arrested for smashing storefront windows.

Again, society (with the press leading the charge) has things upside down. Much more ink is devoted to the protests than the actual outcome of the meeting. Oh yeah, some world leaders actually did conduct meetings in Toronto.

We know who the police are and what they represent in terms of protecting the public. Who are these so- called protestors anyway? It would be interesting to conduct a survey as to how many of the people in the crowd are legitimately promoting a cause, and how many others are just looking for fight, or simply curious as to what will happen if there is a riot.

If someone shacks up with gangsters, they should not be surprised if they are caught up as collateral damage when the swat team moves in. I am not justifying over zealous police action, but with gutless thugs hiding among citizens this is the reality of the situation.

I have little sympathy for most of the protestors, given the number of sticks, clubs and other weapons that were confiscated. I am much more sympathetic to store owners who had their stores and livelihoods smashed to pieces.
